You Are Amazing Just As You Are, for Young People with SEND
Jun 11, 2025
Hey there Auntie Elena here.
If you're reading this, you're probably someone who learns or experiences the world a little differently, and that’s something to be proud of! Whether you have a learning difficulty, a physical disability, or a condition like autism or ADHD, this blog is just for YOU.
We want you to know:
Your Voice Matters
Sometimes people might speak about you instead of with you. But your thoughts, your ideas, and your dreams are important. You deserve to be heard. Don’t be afraid to speak up, ask questions, or tell someone how you feel — even if it's hard. There are people who care and want to listen.
Everyone Learns Differently
Maybe reading takes a bit longer for you. Or maybe you're great at art but don’t like maths. That’s okay! We all have strengths. Some people are visual learners, others need movement or music to focus — and some need extra time. That doesn’t make you less smart. It just means your brain works in its own unique way.
Be Proud of What Makes You YOU
Having SEND might mean you face challenges other people don’t. But it also means you might have amazing creativity, kindness, or a way of seeing the world that others can learn from. The world needs people who think differently. The world needs you.
You’re Not Alone
There are loads of young people who feel like you do. You are part of a big, brilliant community full of people with different abilities, talents, and stories. If you ever feel down, talk to someone — a friend, a teacher, a family member. You’re not in this by yourself. Dream Big
Don’t let anyone tell you what you can or can't do. Want to be a scientist? A writer? A dancer? A YouTuber? Go for it. With support, practice, and your awesome determination, you can get closer to the life you imagine. Your dreams are valid.
